Artista Trabalhador Precarizado

Dedicar-se à prática artística propriamente dita, visando tão somente a consistência do trabalho, a dignidade de sua inserção em espaços públicos e de visibilidade ainda é uma batalha e tanto. É preciso ser afiado e não cessar de cortar caminhos por conta própria ou junto de bons colegas em situação semelhante. Muitas vezes, há um esforço prévio para convencer parcerias de que vale a pena continuar, embrutecidos pela paisagem árida das oportunidades locais e nacionais.
Por mais de dez anos, venho me inventando entre iniciativas individuais e coletivas. Desde baixo, enfrentando pedreiras de seleções acadêmicas e editais de fomento. Na companhia de bonitas amizades, concebemos mostras de intensa pesquisa de linguagem, explorando limites técnicos, conceituais e outros fazeres doidos, em coerência poética. Com altos e baixos; com tombos que precisam de mais tempo de recuperação mental. Os calos que aparecem não podem enrijecer nossos movimentos. Outras tantas realidades são ainda mais difíceis, conforme o lugar desde onde se é percebido socialmente. Muito frequente receber mais não que sim.
Essa realidade poderia ser ampla e enfaticamente mencionada nos cursos de formação em artes visuais, evitando cinismos corriqueiros, para que a concentração de poder monetário e simbólico fosse mais distribuída com políticas públicas. Somos educados a pensar nos como artistas da aristocracia e levados a negativar o próprio ofício - o pensamento que nos faz duvidar dos termos da arte e, por consequência, duvidar de que é possível entender artistas como trabalhadores do cotidiano comum.
Dificilmente tais características serão transformadas por iniciativa espontânea de quem ocupa os postos de poder - sempre ocorrem boas exceções, é claro. No âmbito individual, não se pode esperar para que algo de bom aconteça. O caminho precisa ser cortado e esse será o legado de artistas em situação precária. Coletivamente, seria preciso mais união entre artistas trabalhadores, deixando descaramentos a quem já tem a vida ganha. Enquanto isso, é preciso seguir junto, em apoio. De minha parte, estarei sempre atento e dedicado a esse louco e inútil compromisso artístico, tão necessário para vivermos melhor.

Precarized Worker Artist

Dedicating oneself to the artistic practice itself, aiming only at the consistency of the work, the dignity of its insertion in public spaces, and visibility is still quite a battle. You have to be sharp and not stop cutting paths on your own or with good colleagues in a similar situation. Often, there is a prior effort to convince partnerships that it is worth continuing, stultified by the arid landscape of local and national opportunities.
For more than ten years, I have been inventing myself between individual and collective initiatives. From below, facing quarries of academic selections and funding notices. In the company of beautiful friendships, we conceived samples of intense language research, exploring technical and conceptual limits and other crazy things, in poetic coherence. With ups and downs; with falls that need more mental recovery time. The calluses that appear cannot stiffen our movements. Many other realities are even more difficult, depending on the place from which one is socially perceived. Very often receive more no than yes.
This reality could be widely and emphatically mentioned in visual arts training courses, avoiding commonplace cynicism, so that the concentration of monetary and symbolic power could be more distributed with public policies. We are educated to think of ourselves as artists of the aristocracy and led to negate the craft itself - the thought that makes us doubt the terms of art and, consequently, doubts that it is possible to understand artists as workers of ordinary everyday life.
These characteristics will hardly be transformed by the spontaneous initiative of those who occupy the positions of power - there are always good exceptions, of course. At the individual level, you cannot wait for something good to happen. The path needs to be made and this will be the legacy of artists in a precarious situation. Collectively, more union between working artists would be needed, leaving impudence to those who already have a good and moneyed life. In the meantime, we need to go along, in support. For my part, I will always be attentive and dedicated to this crazy and useless artistic commitment, so necessary for us to live better.
